Here in America, we celebrated Independence Day this week.  When July 4th falls on a Friday or Monday, it’s great because most of us can take advantage of having a “long weekend”.  When it falls during the week like it did this year, well it’s not so much fun.  We are given a random day off in the middle of the week.  You probably didn’t do a whole lot on your day off because you knew you had to go back to work the next day and work 2 more days before the official weekend.  If this is you then today you went back to work.  How would you like to set your own schedule and decide when you work and when you play?  Well you need one thing to quit your job.

There are many benefits to building a home based business.

One of the most important benefits of building a home based business that most people don’t talk about is the reduction in your tax liability.  Obviously, everyone’s tax situation is unique and you will want to discuss your specific situation with your tax specialist.  Generally speaking, some things that are tax deductible:  a portion of your rent/mortgage and utilities, office supplies and equipment, mileage on your car.  Some other things that might surprise you:  legal and professional fees, education and training, insurance/permits/fees, credit/collection fees, and outsourcing/subcontracting costs.  Ask your tax specialist what type of records you need to keep.
